Dear Ombudsman,
I see that you now want to ‘educate’ the airline companies because you believe that they are not accurate enough in their ‘green’ marketing.

On the surface, what you are demanding of the aviation industry sounds impressive and modern, but I think you are yourself struggling to live up to your own standards.
You write that all claims must ”be correct, clear and accurate”.
I hope you are aware that CO2 is good for the planet because it makes it greener. Claims to the contrary are therefore neither accurate, clear nor precise. Have you forgotten what you learned as a child about photosynthesis?
Here, a German study shows how the earth has become 14% greener:
https://derimot.no/ny-studie-okt-co2-fjerner-sulten-pa-jorden-og-gir-en-gronnere-klode/
You write that ‘the aviation industry accounts for around three per cent of the world's total CO2 emissions from human activities each year.’
This is a very vague claim, because how do you measure it and where is your documentation?
If you are referring to IPCC reports, they state that the CO2 content in the atmosphere is 400 parts per million, or 0.04%. Man-made CO2 emissions account for 10 of those 400 parts, or a total of 0.001% of the atmosphere, with almost half of that coming from Chinese power plants. May I strongly urge you to calculate the precise amount of CO2 emitted into the atmosphere by the aircrafts and how much you think it can be reduced, and please provide some examples of wording choices that airlines can get away with using when addressing the Consumer Ombudsman.
IPCC Report 2001, 119+88+6.3=213,3, 6.3/213.3=2.95%, manmade CO2 of CO2

IPCC Report 2007, 29+439+332=800, 29/800=3,63%, manmade CO2 of CO2

You demand that people should ‘avoid using vague and general statements’, yet you yourself write: ‘It is an industry that emits a lot of CO2’.
This is indeed a very vague and general statement. How much is a lot, and where did you get that statement from?
You write that ‘airlines may only make environmental claims if there is sufficient documentation to support them’.
Here you are mixing up the environment and the climate, which is a big mistake. We must protect and care for the environment, while the climate takes care of itself without people having to feel ashamed of flying or breathing, or cows being poisoned with Bovaer.
You write that it is ”important for marketing to be transparent, balanced and accurate”.
If marketing is to be accurate, it cannot be based on demonising CO2, the gas of life, which no living thing can do without.
Here it is explained that the world needs more CO2 and that even a doubling of CO2 will only be beneficial:

You write that ‘with this joint appeal, we want to support consumers in choosing an airline on an informed and non-misleading basis’.
Again, believing that CO2 is a villain is grossly misleading and contributes to bringing our entire society to a standstill.
You ask airline companies to ‘focus on concrete measures that have already been implemented or are in progress, rather than marketing themselves with promises about the future’.
Here, one must be aware of the threats to the future on which the entire climate scare agenda is based, because if you look at the water level in a harbour, it has not risen a millimetre.
Notice how many false climate threats we have been exposed to over time.

In 2007, Nobel Prize winner Al Gore solemnly told the world that the Arctic would be ice-free by 2014:

I look forward to putting all these lies and threats to humanity behind us and working together for a just and happy future without the World Economic Forum's dystopian agenda. The United States has already withdrawn from the Paris Agreement, so the entire climate agenda is falling apart.
